I spend one day, seven hours, reading this book. To be honest, I hope, if it is possible, I never read it, whatever a good novel it is, because the ending is too sad making me so grieved.
In the first half of the story, I am enjoying the happiness of the love of Tess and Angel. However, when they were getting married, belonging to each other, and telling the truth, the devil opened his eyes and curbed the throat of Tess. Why was Angel so ruthless that put Tess alone to suffer these misfortunes which Alec caused in her girlhood? Could it be said body pure is more important than soul pure? Or rather, the fame is far significant than their love.
Tess was a rural girl, with strong self-esteem maybe sometimes can be regarded as stubborn. In her darkest time, an unfinished letter and a fail visit pushed her into the embrace of devil ------ Alec. Just as Tess’s friends say, the test of woman cannot exceed her capacity.
Why always does the roughness occupy refinement? Why always do the bad occupy the good girl? Is it because the good’s inaction? I wonder.
